A day at the Zoo

Our summer started off with a fun day at the Hogle Zoo. Although I have to admit, I'm kind of disappointed with the animal selection lately. There are no bears, polar bears, lions, zebras or hippos. I also feel like some of the animals' living quarters are less than appealing. Cement cages just don't seem natural. I guess I shouldn't be so hard on our little zoo. I can tell they're trying to makes some improvements and it does take lots of money to do so. Hey, as long as the kids have fun then that's all that matters, right?

A Fun filled day:)

On the Saturday before Easter we decided to have a day of fun since we both didn't have to work! We started the day at the local Easter Egg Hunt. It was okay. We were running late and got there just in time to find Addi's age group, so Hally was devastated that she didn't even get to go on the egg hunt. I'm a silly mom and should have just sent her in with Addi's age group! Next we headed to The Living Planet Aquarium. We'd never been, so we gave it a go. It was pretty pricey, but still lots of fun for the kids. Addi is really into animals right now and although she wasn't feeling too good (you can tell by the pictures), she still enjoyed it and even touched a baby stingray! After the aquarium we headed to the movie. Thank goodness for free movie passes AND free concessions! We saw Rio, which was way cute. Kendall lasted about 20 minutes and then she wanted down to wander around in the dark. She was noisy and had to be taken out... I guess that's what you get when you take a stubborn 18 month old to the movies!:) Then we headed home to die Easter Eggs. It was the perfect day/weekend!

POOR PINCHY

Pinchy was belly-up this morning. Sorry honey, I know you loved him, but it's probably for the best. I am sure he is happy now in crawdad heaven with his crawdad brothers and sisters.

A NEW PET

Is it a dog? No. Is it a cat? No. (Tim would never bring a cat home due to his phobia of the feline.) Is it a horse? No. Is it a chicken, a cow, a ferret, a frog, a turtle, a flying squirrel? No, no, no, no, no, no! Then what is it?

It's a crawdad!!!

Every year Tim's work has a crawdad fry. Being in the receiving department, Tim had the job of unloading all of the Crawdads shipped in from Louisiana. He thought, "How fun would it be if I kept one for a pet?" So yes....... he brought one home and named it Pinchy! It lives in a plastic crate in our kitchen!!!!! I can't even bare to look at it. My husband is such a kid. Who brings a crawdad home for a pet?!! Crustaceans do not make a good pet! You can't hold it or pet it. (Well I guess you could, but who would want to do that?!) I am trying to get him to go release it in Utah Lake or something. I am generally a very easy going wife, but I might just have to put my foot down of this one. You can tell by the next pictures just how much the kids love our new pet too!
