TRENT DUVAL

My friend Brittney posted about a little eight year old boy named Trent who is losing a long fought battle with cancer. Here is his blog that has kept everyone updated along the way. It's been 15 months since his diagnosis. Come to find out, this little boy is my neighbors nephew. I knew about his story, but had no idea that he had a blog documenting his time with Lukemia.

As I read his last post, I just cried and cried. His story is so touching. What a sweet little boy. Why does this sort of things happen to little kids? He has been such a fighter. Now he says he is ready to return to his Heavenly Father. Wow! You are such a strong little boy Trent and have touched so many lives.

The Chick-Fil-A in South Jordan is having a fundraiser for Trent's family today. Twenty percent of their revenue from today will be donated to the family to help them with their massive medical expenses. You can also just donate money by calling.

NEW DESK

My friend Desi was moving and getting rid of an old desk so I took it off her hands. It used to be what I call "faux wood" or "sticker wood" (it looks like you could peel the wood off like a sticker), or "fake wood." Look at it now though! I just gave it a couple coats of black paint, sanded the edges to give it a distressed look, put on new drawer pulls and finished it off with a nice coat of polyurethane spray! I am so excited, I didn't think it would turn out this good. Thanks for the desk Desi! If you look close enough by the keyboard you can see what it used to look like.... oops, I forgot to paint that part.

SPOOKY FRIENDS

Would you like to spruce up your spooky Halloween Tree? Well, just add some easy-to-make spooky ghost ornaments!!!

Here's what you'll need:
  • 1/8 yd. white fabric (I got mine at Wal-Mart for $0.33)
  • cotton balls
  • needle & black thread
  • black ribbon
  • scissors
  • black Sharpie

~Cut your fabric into 5"x5" squares. Stuff the head with half of a cotton ball and tie a 7" piece of black ribbon in a double knot around the ghost's neck. Next draw on two black eyes with your Sharpie. Thread the needle, but don't knot it. Sew the thread once through the top of the ghost's head. Now tie a knot at the top, making the loop however large you want it.

WAHLA!! Now you have a cute little ghost to hang from your Halloween Tree! Wasn't that easy? Isn't it cute?

I got the tree at Pier 1 Imports.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADDI!!

Happy birthday Addi! You're four years old today. I can't believe it's been four years! Heavenly Father was watching over you and I both the day you were born. There were some complications and they rushed me in for an emergency c-section. You were born at 6 a.m. and I didn't get to see you until 10 o'clock that night. The doctor's said that if they would have waited five more minutes to take you out, we both would have died. I look at you now and don't know how I could possibly live without you. You're such a sweetheart! Everyone that meets you instantly falls in love with you. You have such a good memory and you're constantly stunning your dad and I at the tinniest little details that you can remember from years ago. You are very particular and have to have things a certain way, maybe a little obsessive compulsive like your mom. You have such an imagination and could play for hours all by yourself. You're such a girly girl. You love new clothes, your hair to be done and your nails to be painted. You're the best big sister to Hally and she looks up to you so much, thank you for being so sweet to her. You're so special Addi and mom and dad love you so much!
